Spring Survival Guide

Spring can be a problematic time for Koi Keepers due to the fluctuating temperatures. Parasites are opportunists this time of year as the temperatures begin to increase providing the perfect environment for microscopic parasites to attack (for more info on Koi parasites please visit our healthcare section). To see you through the Spring Divine Koi recommends you have the following 'Spring Survival Kit' to hand in case of a parasite outbreak:

• Microscope (inc slides and cover glasses) - with a magnification of 400 times and built in light in order to identify and accurately treat parasites as most are not visible to the naked eye. (Please note it is important to know the exact gallonage of your pond before adding any treatment.  UV's normall,y but not always need be switched off  to ensure best results).
• A range of medications including NTLABS B-D-S Fluke Treatment, Malachate Green, Formaldehyde, Paramedic Kit, Potassium Permaganate etc...
• A Suitable net to catch your fish
• Floating basket or bowl in which to hold your fish
• A designated bucket or watering can (not galvanised) to administer pond treatments.
• Thermometer as many treatments are temperature dependant.
