Divine Koi moved from East Cowes to Whippingham in September 2010 with the intension to build our own pond and vat inside of a summer house to run our Koi business. We are pleased to announce this work has now begun! At the end of June 2011 Jim hired a mini digger on site and with the help of his brother Paul they began to scrape out the base of the summer house. This was followed by digging out the pond which is 10 ft x 10 ft and 3 ft deep, a trench for the bottom drain was then hand dug and dry fitted ready for the next stage. There was over 24 cubic meters of earth to be taken away, which for a short time was placed on the driveway as this was the only place it could be collected from!
The next stage was for the concrete base to be layed and the bottom drain fitted. Once this was done Jim started to lay his blocks, he used hollow blocks for the first 3 courses which brought him up to ground level. These were filled with concrete before being left for a few days to dry. The last 3 courses of blocks and bricks were layed which I hope you agree makes the pond really stand out.
At times the weather was against us, in what can only be described as a typical british summer. However, this didn't deter us and we carried on regardless!
